Councillor Angela Cooper

Angela Cooper

I have lived in Thornton since 2004 with my husband John and daughter Charlotte, having previously lived in Butterwick outside Sedgefield.

We enjoy living in this beautiful quiet area and I take pride in the all year round flower displays in both the villages and our well maintained green spaces.

I qualified as a teacher and took up a post in a Newcastle comprehensive school teaching maths. After leaving the profession to bring up my 2 children, I returned initially as a supply teacher in many schools in Stockton and Billingham, after which I returned to teaching full time in a school in Hartlepool. During this period I studied with the Open University and gained an MA. I retired from teaching after 35 years.

At present I am Chair of the Stainton and Thornton Community Council, as well as Parish Councillor and editor of the quarterly Stainton and Thornton Newsletter.

I spend many happy hours walking our Goldendoodle Rosie around Stainton and Thornton as well as playing with her in our Green Spaces.

When not away on holiday, I work Saturdays and Sundays in my daughter's cafe, on a voluntary basis.
