Councillor Alan Conroy

Alan Conroy

My wife Denise and I moved into Stainton Village in 1973 and have enjoyed living in the same house for more than 43 years.

I have spent all my life working in and supporting the chemical industries of Teesside, joining ICI at Billingham in 1960 as an apprentice, and, leaving full time employment at the end of 1997 as a Teesside group training manager.

My background is in engineering but my last working position involved me in a range of training activities including management development, becoming a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, CMCIPD in the early 1990’s.

In 1998 I became self employed and am still working as a training and development consultant, creating and working with many different companies mainly on management improvement programmes.

I was invited to join the Parish Council more than 12 years ago which then led to becoming a member of the Stainton and Thornton Green Spaces group, of which I am now treasurer.

From this small group of volunteers we formed the TMG, a sub group of like minded seniors that meets on a Thursday morning to maintain the beautiful features like the Quarry, Stainton Wood and Kell Gate Green that we have in our village.
